Grubby grey Grumman (Wildcat)

Here is the Wildcat after being dusted - transforming in the process from dusty brown to grey!  It was in basically good shape and some casual violence reduced the undercarriage from 50% complete to 0%. More robust that way!  After further cleaning I attacked it with paint.

I opted for the early war markings, using decals I had in stock. I rather like it.

Beautiful plane Tim, the paint and decals really bring it to life and do it justice!

More Navy aircraft still to come!

That has turned out great, it looks really smart. I always had a soft spot for the Wildcat after playing too much "Pacific Air War" back in the day.

Curious that the early war scheme had roundels on both wings.

Looks good Tim.

The decals make it 'pop'....

Cheers,

Thanks - this is the colour scheme Wildcats should have in my view!

Maybe they ran short of decals later in the war?

It does look surprisingly colourful for a basically grey aeroplane.
