From ship to shore

A chat the other night about a game idea led to Martin asking the question "Does anyone have any German naval troops?"  I forget when I last answered "no" to such a question...
These are Platoon 20 metal figues which I painted in some haste for the first of the Market Garden Megablitz games I ran about 8 years ago.  Part of the patchwork of obscure German units cobbled together for the defence of Holland against the Allied assault, they now reside in the box labelled 'Oberkommando Niederlande'.  It's about time I dug some other stuff out of that box for a photo call.
They have been on the table twice but have yet to see any action...

Too good not to see some action Tim!

German Naval Troops. Somehow I do not think their heart will be in the fight.

I'm sure their day will come...

You could be right. So far in the Market Garden games I've run the Germans have never been desperate enough to rush them to the front line.

Marines?

Nice little force. I've got a platoon of the individually based for skirmishing. If you ever fancy some more CP models and Kelly's Heroes do nice examples.

Cheers,

Pete

I think these chaps were more likely landed crews from laid up surface vessels. No competition for 'real' marines....

Let's just say you may not have seen the last of these chaps...

How about some Landstorm Nederland? I remember a newspaper report a few years back about Arnhem commemorations at which the reporter was very surprised to find some ex-LN veterans there - he'd assumed, of course, that all the Dutch were on the Allies' side. Reporters!
