I finally managed my first airsoft outing of the year on Sunday. I was joined by a few other members of our (very) informal airsoft team, Wheezy Kompanie at Phoenix Airsoft's woodland site just along the road. There were around 40 players in total.
Martin and I both decided to give our East German 'Strichtarn' camo an outing while Gunter went for modern German Flecktarn and Tony & Alex British DPM.
Rifles used were as follows:
Tim - am: nice wood & metal AKM, pm: scruffy old black AKM
Martin - am: modified M-14 (it will pass as an SVT-40), pm: G-3 SG1
Gunter - am: G-36 (long version with bipod), pm: G-36C
Tony - AK-47Alex - G-36C
All photos taken by Tony Lineker and used here with his kind permission.
Martin (right) and I prepare to repel an assault by the capitalist imperialist lackeys from the west. Must be from Derbyshire then? |

Gunter turns his G-36C on a flanking attack. |
It may be cheap and not very cheerful, but Strichtarn is pretty good camo! |

That's nice stuff, lovely camo and airsoft guns, would like to have a go at that.
Who was Robin Hood then? Strichtarn would be a bummer to paint up one would think.

There are plenty of sites around - most of which will rent you any gear you need. It's a great excuse to dress up and generally fool around!

Strangely enough there were no volunteers to turn up in green tights and a pointy hat. But if you're offering...
Painting - dead easy - it just looks grey (with a slight greenish tinge) from any distance.
Yes, I was amazed how well the Strichtarn worked in the spring woodland. WW2 Russian khaki is similar, it looks very umpromising when worn but actually blends very well in 'earthy' environments.
Both colours seem to acquire a slight greenish tint outside, or rather, or they take on the hue of the surrounding environment.
The helmets are the biggest problem, great big shiny things which need some work to hide.

I agree about the helmets, but just having the net on makes quite a difference. And once the bbs start to ping off it (or you walk into some unseen hazard...) it is all worthwhile. But mainly helmets are about dressing up.
Looking at your East German 'Strichtarn' camo, reminds me of the camo Vs OD Green debate
the US Army went through before adoption of the BDU uniform.....To me OD Green worked just as well in more places! And looking at the new US Army camo.....that works nowhere, make you wonder what they were thinking...)

Do you mean the ACU which from any range looks pale grey? There was a guy turned up at an airsoft day a few years back fully kitted out in ACU. It was so conspicuous that he was soon being referred to simply as 'target'.
That would be the one Tim...works very well on Starships I'm told ...lol

I fear not your StatzPolitziei. I live in the West and am protected by the CIA (and my missus).
