Counterattack

This was a game played with my NATO Brigade Commander rules and run by Martin using his 2mm toys.  A further instalment of our WW3 series of games, this saw a West German Brigade trying to break through a load of nasties in order to relieve their chums.  Interestingly, in this case the nasties were East Germans.  Martin led the Commies while I represented the Free World and we settled in for a grudge match!
A West German Panzer Battalion on the move.
Happily I was able to deploy the brigade quite quickly.
The Panzer Grenadier Battalion makes a daring sweep round the left flank and - for only minor losses - shifted an enemy battalion from a village.
An overview of the battle.  The DDR forces comprised a full Motor Rifle Regiment.
My Artillery Battalion prepares to fire.

My forces applied and maintained relentless pressure on the Commies.
Still making good progress - despite a few casualties.
Soon I was able to concentrate my battalions again...
...for an assault on the DDR tank battalion.
 It wasn't completely pain free....
...but the Commies were wiped out!
Even air attacks were shrugged off...
...and a route was soon opened!

Excellent report and I do love this level of operational WW3 games. Would you have an up to date copy of the rules available or are you hoping to publish them?

Thanks - the rules have been through some changes since I posted an earlier edition and yes - I am planning to publish at some point.

Pah! A vile slur by fascistic vipers upon the undoubted efficiency and bravery of our gallant panzer troops.

From the office of Erich Honecker.

Same bases as the 6mm toys - but more toys on each one!

Stay on the line Erich - and don't worry about that gunfire just outside your office.....

The NVA Motor-schutzen troops were indeed efficient, brave and gallant in holding their positions until they were completely wiped out.

The 2mm toys present more of a spectacle than we expected.

Quite so - aside from being dead your chaps did rather well!

Well, they were only obeying orders.

I do rather like the look of the 2mm toys en masse, even if they are a complete pita to paint. If doing this again I think I'd stick with 6mm, although then I wouldn't be able to get away with generic T54/55/62s and T64/72/80s.

The painting is easy enough but they are very fiddly to handle with my great fat fingers when it comes to basing and occasional conversion work.

I shouldn't worry - I have rather dainty fingers and my painting is still pretty dodgy!
