We've tried out several versions of the 'Dominion of...' rules. A few months ago I built a 'travel' version on a 9x12cm board and painted wooden blocks. Despite the title, the games I have played so far involved neither Marlborough nor Peter...
A few days ago I tried out the above book starting with the Boyne.
Williamites in grey. The yellow blocks denote 'unreliable' units, the green matches 'defended' units.
A Williamite victory! Each game takes only a few minutes.Second attempt. All the unreliable units legged it!
A terrible day to be a Jacobite!
Fleurus 1690. Marshal Luxembourg's French in white vs the Dutch/Spanish alliance. I forget who won as I forgot to take a photo! It's a very elegant little game and ideal for resolving campaign battles and the like. Recommended.

Thank you for your kind comments, Tim. I have always had a soft spot for this era ever since I read the wonderful children's book Captain of Dragoons by Ronald Welch so so many years ago!
Steve
As someone who started, but then gave up on, a Great Northern War project, I really should purchase these but I have yet to buy any of the Dominion of sets. Seeing that the WWI set is available is making this increasingly difficult to justify. Out of curiosity, have you tried those yet?
This is one of my favourite Dominion sets so far, I've played all the Nine Years War scenarios and I'm torn between WSS or GNW next.. It has excellent period feel to it, although I'm being ING tempted by the RCW set so I may head east before travelling back to Flanders.
It's a period which interest me...but so do many others! Nice to hear from you. Stay tuned for more...
I own but haven't yet tried the Great War set. Won't be long though.
Cheap and quick games - do them all!
