The power of the press

Just a quick post tonight.

As a result of the newspaper article (see Monday's post) we had a prospective new member show up at the Sheffield club tonight.  After some introductory chit-chat from a couple of members he was prevailed upon to take part in a game and subsequently sat in on another.  So if you're reading this Peter, welcome and we hope to see you at the weekend!

I am reminded of Tyneside Wargames club's unfortunate encounter with their local paper...
The journalist arrived, interviewed people in a non-threatning level sort of way, took some pictures of the chairman grinning holding some figures & then published the article under "Blood & slaughter in the Church Hall!"
Needless to say the Church Hall comittee were not very happy & the club were almost banned! Just proving that the saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity" isn't allways true....

Yes, we've had similar encounters over the years, so it was nice to get such a positive write-up.
