Forţele Aeriene Regale ale României (Royal Romanian Air Force)

The recent completion of an F-Toys Bf-109 in Romanian colours prompted this post showcasing the collected might of my 1/144 scale WW2 RRAF.  Hopefully this may act as an incentive to get on with more Romanian 20mm ground units..
The RRAF used an interesting variety of machines and I may well add to this motley collection before long.  The photos show the F-Toys '109, Ju-88 (Minicraft), Ju-87 (Eduard), Hurricane (Sweet).  The last two were built and painted by Wg Cdr Luddite.
A number of Hurricanes (and Blenheims) were supplied to Romania in 1940 as part of an unsuccessful British effort to prevent the Romanians getting 'in bed' with Germany.

I especially like the footnote of the classic bit of British 1940's foreign policy that was barking totally up the wrong tree

I think you have represented the whole Romanian air force for Mega Blitz!

to fight a war with the UK and take Canada, so bureaucratic stupidity is a universal...)

Nice selection of crates. Out of the ordinary for gaming.

Geordie
Having Hurricanes in the same air force as their usual opponents was irresistible!
I have at least one more Romanian aircraft still to paint....

Continuing the theme, papers just released reveal that in WW2 the British government was having cosy chats with the Vichy regime....

All your favourite aircraft - but with sillier markings!

An unsual subject mate. I remember the old matchbox me109 coming with RRAF decals.

Cheers Rich.

Me too - I remember it being a real eye opener to see a '109 in something other than Luftwaffe colours.

Now if only someone would do Royal Yugoslav Airforce markings we could really go to town.

Bf109s, Hurricanes, SM79s and Blenheims all in the same airforce !

Never mind the Yugoslav markings (though I do have some in 1/72...) - I just wish there was a 1/144 scale Blenheim!
