Quick Cobras

You may recall seeing this pair in an earlier post.  Now, with the aid of some national and 'Marines' decals and a scoosh of varnish they are ready for action.  So I really must paint some US infantry for them to support...

Assault on Scheissenburg - part 2

The previous report ended just as the Forbodian hordes swarmed into town.  Even the CO made it to (nearly) the front.
Bitter hand to hand fighting ensued with the French clinging to one flank....
...while the Red horde swept round the other.
But it wasn't all plain sailing for the Forbodians - as is evident from the location of this matchstick - fired from a 120mm mortar battery.  As you can see it's 6 inch burst circle thinned the Commie ranks somewhat!  What you won't read in the Forbodian Official History is that it was actually fired from their own mortar....
The confused melee in progress.  At least I was confused.
A T-55 lumbers into town.
An Entac finds it's target and not even the mighty cardboard armour of the BMP can save it!
By now the French have withdrawn the most battered infantry company and the battalion support...
...and the Forbodians, lacking the infantry strength to make further progress decide to bombard the defence with tank guns and mortars until a final assault can be made.  We wound things up at this point.

The total playing time for this game was under 2 hours and the few tweaks I made to the rules after the game a couple of weeks ago seem to have improved the flow of the thing significantly.

AMX-13 DCA

This rather down at heel toy was purchased on eBay for £0.99 plus postage.  It was missing some trivia like radar dish and both gun barrels but that didn't deter me.  Soon with the aid of pliers, superglue and violence the AMX had a spiffy new pair of brass gun barrels.  A splash of green paint later and the job was as complete as it's ever likely to get.

Assault on Scheissenburg - part 1

This was the follow-on from the 'Drive on Scheissenburg' game we played a couple of weeks ago.  The defending French had a couple of understrength infantry companies, with AT, mortar and tank platoons.  They were again commanded by Martin, aided by Tim and Bill.  The Forbodian Peoples' Army fielded a Motor Rifle Battalion (in their shiny new BMPs), reinforced with a company of T-55.  John commanded, aided by Pete and Jerry - the latter as the Political Officer.
As is well known, one of the advantages enjoyed by the Warsaw Pact forces is standardisation of equipment.  This is demonstrated in the above photo - by complete coincidence Jerry, John and Pete had all brought the same type of tape measure!
The Comrades wisely opted for a dismounted attack.  One of the supporting T-55s soon fell victim to a skulking AMX-13.  In LCW, AFVs can take two hits - the first marked with a ring of no confidence, the second by a huge pall of smoke!
The Forbodian steam-roller trundles on. The cheeky AMX-13 can be seen in the field bottom left.
As the riflemen reach town a BMP launches a Malyutka/Sagger.
The AMX-13 clears off under the scanty cover of some (mortar) smoke.  Will it make it to safety?
That'll be a no then.
Things are starting to look a bit sticky for the Frenchies...
...as the Forbodians swarm into town.  But some of  the French infantry is still in place.

Part 2 of this game coming soon.  Place your bets now on the outcome!
