Col. J Robertson

You may have noticed this chap in my Confederate staff group at the recent Gettysburg game.  He is a Britains plastic figure of some age and was originally owned - as his name suggests - by my late friend John G Robertson.  JR was the first person I met who was deeply interested in the ACW - I understand that he ran a campaign in the early '70s where the Dundee club represented the CSA and the Bristol club - with which JR had links were the Yankees.  I'd love to know more about this campaign.
Anyway, as the only 54mm figure to have come my way from John's collection it seemed fitting to stick him on a base, slap on some varnish and take him along to the game.  I like to think that JR would have liked the game and been well pleased with the outcome.

More boxes of Boche

Here are more of the German toys being sorted out for next weekend's game.  Above is the veteran 44 Infantry Division...
...along with 11 and 72 IDs.  All these have been in service since the mid 1990s.

Corps (or rather Korps) assets.
More Korps assets.
Two lots of Korps assets.

Piles of Panzers

Sorting out the toys for next Saturday's Megablitz game is now well under way.  The game scenario is loosely based on the Panzer breakthrough in mid-May 1940 and will involve no fewer than seven Panzer Divisions - as far as I know this is a record number for a Megablitz game!  To even my own surprise, I am providing six of them, with John A bringing along his own 8PD.
It occurred to me that you might want to ogle the toys.  Also it will intimidate the French players...
As usual, I am using what I have so the divisional numbers aren't all accurate.  I'll begin with the Fuhrer's armoured might.  Above is the veteran 19PD, formed in the late 1990s.
 23 PD - a relatively (c,10 years) new unit.
11PD - formed around the same time as 23.
 7PD - Rommel's lads.
2PD - my original and highest mileage Megablitz unit.
14 PD - some of the oldest models I own.
 3 Motorised Division.

Let me know if you'd like a closer look at any of these divisions.
Next - more Germans.

An impressive weapon!

This splendid device was sourced in a shop on Scarborough last month.  It is a diecast piece complete with a (quite long range!) firing mechanism.  The calibre of the gun is 5mm, so even very large matchsticks could be fired.  I have no idea of it's origins but cast on the left side are the words "ABULLOCK GUN" - with the spacing as per my typing. To give an idea of the size of the thing it is posed with a pair of Starlux French officers (above) and a Conte Confederate officer (below).
UPDATE 1440hrs 09/08/13:  Alex Kleanthous has been in touch and tells me that this is a Bullock Long Range Coastal Gun by MSR Toys: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/item/2114775

Thanks again Alex!
