YAK-9D - part 1

Another gem from the box load I was given in July, the YAK-9 is a kit I have never built.  This one was reasonably complete - wheels down and all - but as with the others from this batch, the paint was rather rough.  More importantly, it was missing part of the tail.

Spot the replacement part!  Carved from plastic card and liberally glued in place.

New paint. While it dried I raided the decal box.

May need a bit of left rudder to stop it pulling to port! But another great restoration project.

That looks very smart indeed

With all the paint it's wearing the chances of getting off the ground are pretty slim!

Thanks - it's coming along nicely.

Great restoration job Tim! Your plastic carving skills are quite good and with paint it's hard to tell the original from your replacement! Well done!

Luckily it was quite a simple shape to carve!
