Definitely a bridge too far

Last Wednesday saw another outing of A Fistful of Lead.  This time we were off to the American Civil War to dispute a crucial river crossing.  The Yankees were an advance party attempting to secure the bridge, while the Confederate rearguard had to delay them until nightfall. As well as the bridge, the location of a nearby ford was known to both sides. Originally a Napoleonic scenario, I hastily amended this following the arrival of a splendid new hat!
Men in hats.  Tim C (left), John and myself.  John's hat was also new but mine was by far the best.  John, Tim and Graham were the Yankees, Martin and Jerry the Rebs (photo by Martin)
Confederate troops assemble.  All figures were from my accumulation of 1/32 plastic  (photo by Martin)
The Bluebellies soon discovered that milling about in the open was a hazardous business!
Rebs in the wood (left) covering the ford.
Despite the cover of the wood, the Rebs still suffered.  Red = wounded, yellow = shaken.

The Yankees were having a pretty terrible time....
...though John's contingent skulked safely among trees.

Having dealt with the nearest Reb, Tim sent one of his chaps running across the bridge...
It looked very dramatic!  (photo by Martin)
The Yankee suffered the shame of firstly being fought off by a wounded Reb and then killed by the Reb officer.  At this point we agreed that the Bridge would remain in Confederate hands.  Once again this was an excellent game with players helping to create some very entertaining events.

Well it was a good try by Billy Yank to try and rush the bridge.
Always refreshing to see a game where the whole table is within range of both sides.
And silly hats always make for more fun.
Cheers,
Mike

Looks great Tim. It made me fondly remember my old Britains figures.

Cheers,

Seems to me there might have been a similar incident somewhere near Yorktown... I must ask Jacko how far he's got with his BMC AWI figures...
