More bodging - MT-LB

Here is my 1/40-somethingish scale MT-LB, seen here with a T-55 to raise the tone somewhat.  And it's not often a T-55 has that effect.  And yes, my model is too wide but it does have a vague look of MT-LB to it.

The lower hull MT-LB started off as a block of insulation foam which was then carved roughly to shape.
The upper hull and hatches are made from balsa and the turret came from the spares box.

A first coat of (Dulux!) green paint.  The running gear was from the BMP-1 pdf I bought and featured here previously.

Marks out of 10?  Go on, be honest.

Very nice work there Tim. Any movement on a set of rules?

Thanks. The rules are coming along nicely and we still intend to have them published in time for the 2015 campaigning season!

8.5 marks for looks and 10 out of 10 for effort.

I think. The width looks correct but I am sure they are longer beasties.

A really good carve up!

Quite so - the width to length ratio is out but it'll do to be going on with.

Nice bodge. 'Nuff said, really. Looking forward to more.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck then it's a duck unless it is a cow with mad cow disease.

If it is used on the tabletop I would give it a ten.

There hasn't been much modelling activity of late - this was built last month.

It has already been used in a game. As befits a real MT-LB, nobody noticed...

Works for me :)

Just finished Phil Barker's Airfix Ancient Wargaming booklet

Shades of ingenuity in creating your own figures from chopped up Airfix poses seems to be alive and well

Ah, the old 'Purple Primer'. Splendid book!

I had to laugh/cry when I saw the "this player is making every mistake in the book" diagram .. that was me!

Very nicely done Tim. It's horrible; I'm proud of you :-)

Trust me, we've all been there!

I'd give it a 9 as I didn't realize it was a scratch build in the first couple of figures. I don't know if it was just that I don't know what an MT-LB is, or that my eye may have been drawn to the lighter colored tank but I think it did well to look like a vehicle and not stand out. The only thing keeping it from a 10 in my mind, apart from end effects, is the folded edge on one track. Great job.

I also go with a 9. The first image did not look like a scratch build. Also as there will be a lot of smoke around them on the battlefield no one needs to know the difference. :)

Great job.
