Fishbed fun - part 1

This is another old kit - but not one I've tackled before.  In fact this is my first 1/72 MiG-21!
The contents of the box.  The parts look pretty crisp and not excessively numerous!
Initial assemble - so far so good.
Keeping everything in line.  Where would we modellers be without Blu-tac?
The kit offers a choice of two decal sets - Soviet or Czech.

Bring your own missiles with this gem.

Yes - it is a bit spartan in that respect.

I always liked this sort of jet layout, to me it looked futuristic. As you'll know Tim, RAF Leuchars had EE Lightnings at the time when the MiG 21 was still the backbone of Eastern Block air forces. I always wondered how these two would match up. I'll pay special attention to this project as I want to see what you use to get your polished aluminium effect!

Lightning. Until the fuel runs out!
The Fishbed will be getting a coat (or more likely several) of brushed-on silver as my chrome effect spray is almost gone.

Ah, it was chrome effect spray....Thanks (just cheap Wilkos Plasticote or something like that?).

I've just noticed that I have two Airfix Mig-21s in the attic (matchbox kit might have been better). I have no idea why I ever bought them, but I might have to build them now.

(actually, might have been for a Raid on Entebbe game)
