Lame Lancaster - part 3 - liftoff!

Now as complete as it's getting, the appalling monstrosity that is this rescued Airfix Lancaster is ready to have a game contrived around it.  Actually it doesn't look too bad in the photos - all of which have been carefully angled to hide the particularly bad bits.  The last aircraft model of this size I dealt with was probably the Airfix He-177.  In 1977....

The Lancaster is part of my Winter Aircraft Project - click here for more such sadness.

Another nice salvage job.

Thanks. It's gone from being a badly built model to a badly built model with some paint on it!

Paint can cover many sins!
Nice job Tim!

I can understand why so many war gamers prefer to paint the canopies in aircraft - just finished my Me 109 and I've had a nightmare trying to paint the canopy...!

I think you are being modest, the Lanc looks just fine.

Ah ha, well done.

It's complete, finally the tension is gone; the relief is palpable.

Dog, strangely, is non-committal, but then, he is in Kenya and I am currently in South Africa.

Regards

Good salvage operation, now it looks like a Lanc. I may copy the canopy overpainting trick for my planned salvage operations (a He 111 and some post-war wrecks)

Ever thought of a job in Propaganda? You're a natural ;-)

Well done Tim, I am glad it did not turn into a Lincoln given the timeline of the rebuild.

I think the canopy looks sweet.

It's a very sinful model....

It did look really hideous before I started on it.

The painted canopy is probably the best bit!

Has the dog gone on safari without you?

I was a bit hesitant about painting the canopy on such a big model but it worked OK.

That's what I wanted you to think. Oh I see what you mean...

Lincoln? Any longer and it would have ended up as a Washington!

Good work Tim
The size of this one looked quite daunting

Daunting it was! It seemed to take forever to paint.
