The ultimate bird-scarer?

While out for a walk recently I spotted this Bloodhound AA missile in a (large) garden.  As it was behind a high wall one can only speculate about what else might lurk therein.
Interestingly, when I showed this to some of the chaps at the Sheffield Club they were rather less concerned with "why have an air defence system in your garden" and the conversation moved quickly on to what the most suitable system would be!  Leading the field so far is a Bren on an AA tripod.  Worrying really, isn't it?

The bren is a good choice but really you want a Quad .50cal on an M16 Halftrack. That way you can deal with interloping Huns and then pop down the shops after.

An interesting suggestion - but sadly a bit of a squeeze in my driveway.

Oh that's not a problem. Use the guns to create space and the tracks to level the rubble. Easy :-)

All the best

Tell you what - we'll try it at your house first...

After hearing automatic small arms fire, my neighbours nervously peeked over the garden fence. They both looked rather puzzled as they witnessed me teaching my 84 year old mother how to aim and fire an MP40. ( airsoft version ). . . . . . . . . Good Morning. Turned out nice again. ☺

Are you forming your own Volksturm unit? I think we need a photo...

I am always keen on mounting a Phalanx CIWS on the back deck.

Not really a AA weapon so to speck, but if it can take out a missile surely a Cessna 172 cannot be too much of a ask.

Again a bit bulky for my own modest acres. I probably have room for a Landrover with a Starstreak in the back...

I vote for not having an air defence weapon in my backyard.

BYW, the Rapier has a certain Wile E Coyote look when paired with your suggested (i.e. vs birds). Was there a large packing crate labelled ACME nearby?

Cheers (and keep you head down)

I didn't notice the ACME crate, but I expect it was there.

I vote for a 20mm Vulcan cannon.

Goodbye vermin pigeons, trees, chimneys, squirrels, etc.

So far, Uncle Bob (Cordery) has had the closest claim to a real Rapier in his back garden. I expect that now the Olympics is over, the Army have taken it back to their own toybox :O)

For amusement value, I would like a tethered barrage baloon and a basket that can be winched up and down. I haven't cleared it with Suzanne yet though.

Regards, Chris

I have missile envy as I only have one in 1/72 scale ;)

Much as I agree with most of your coment, I find myself glad that you don't live next door...

At least that would be quieter than the other options so far proposed. I can't see why Suzanne could possibly object...

It's not how big it is. Anyway, the real oone probably didn't come complete with a dodgy Landrover and a dog with no tail. Good old Airfix.
