In the Navy

Now composed mostly of balsa scratchbuilds by John Hawes, my 1/1200 US fleet now runs to 48 vessels in all.  The Revell kits of New Jersey and a pair of carriers were built by me but the US destroyers I have previously amassed (see my earlier post) have now been passed to Ian Drury.
Battleship row - the 'big gun' navy is alive and well...
...but plenty of carriers (ten!) are available.

A most impressive array there Tim.

"McGow's Navy" perhaps?

I think it'll be a while until I can get all those carriers in a game!

Hi Tim,

I shudder to think about the air strike 10 carriers could put together - and I suspect the Japanese may well do so as well!

Very nce looking indeed.

All the best,

Oh yes - my Japs are struggling along with only 8 carriers...

For the model Navy to beat all - have you seen Philip Warren's 'Matchbox Fleet'? Practicaly every ship that's served in the Royal Navy, plus a few foreigners, since the 1940's. All to the same scale and built out of wooden matchboxesand matches. Theres a recent blog entry at

Tim,

You have GOT to use them as a fleet in a massive game!

To leave them unused would be a crime ... and you would never do anything criminal, old you?

All the best,

Bob

And all in 1/300? How does he find the room, let alone the time?

Yes, but we'd need a load of nutters prepared to play the game. Oh - I see where this is headed....

David Crook said...

....Somebody mention nutters?

Nurse - Mr Crook's medication. Quickly!

Very impressive Navy: and those balsa scratchbuilds - excellent! Can't wait to see pix of them in action. What rule set are you envisaging for them?
Cheers,
Ion

These will be used with the Fletcher Pratt Naval Wargame - see my previous posts on the subject for more.
