While assembling my 6mm Austrian Mechanised Brigade last year, I cleaned up this 1/300 scale Saab 35* Draken to serve as top cover. Unaccountably getting round to painting it took a further several months. The model is of unknown origin and is a basic but effective representation of the Draken's distinctive shape. I already had a sheet of Austrian decals in stock - enough in fact for several more models. More research on the 1980s Austrian AF is called for....
* Saab 35 - not to be confused with the Saab 9-5. It's an easy mistake to make but luckily this one is a different colour.

I seem to remember in the 70's a plastic Draken type plane coming in the cereal boxes which nowadays would serve the same purpose in 1/144 scale.
A great aircraft that the Swedes even manage to export.

I've always liked the Draken - there is a lovely (ex-Danish AF) example at nearby Newark Air Museum. I'll cast around to see if I have a photo of it.
The Draaken goes round corners better :O)
