Flaming Zero

I mentioned in my recent post on Zeroes that I had a couple of 'specials'.  Here is the first - a burning wreck!
This is the model as it came out of the box!  The 'smoke' seems to be made of painted rubber and is most effective.

Note also the 'damage' to wings and tail.

Is that the culprit in the background?  The F6F Hellcat is an old Revell kit.

The Zero plunges towards the surface of the Pacific, er,  table.

You say the smoke is rubbery.

Could it be made of vinyl ? (like John's old podracers were)

I think it's by Doyusha.

I think your grandad would have liked it!

I've used more ridiculous models in games, so no doubt it'll make another appearance here before long.

Could be. I'll try to remember and bring it along next time I see you.

That Zero is so impressive :)

Great effect and good idea for the smoke. Usually I think these things just fell apart when hit by bullets etc.

I wish I could take some of the credit for it, but the model is as I took it from the box.

A Zero falling apart under fire? Now that would be a modelling challenge!
