Following an exchange of comments with Paul about his ongoing and apparently endless 20mm HUMMWV-fest, I dug out my own (slightly more restrained) HUMMWV collection - all of it in 6mm - to pose for the camera.
I'll begin with some examples of the astonishing range of HUMMWV variants produced by Scotia. Although these may no longer be the most detailed models on the market, they were for a long time the only source of HUMMWVs in this scale. The models here were painted by me in the mid-1990s as part of a Megablitz 'Desert Storm' project. Forgive me not knowing the various 'M' designations, and being too lazy to look them up.
A pair of HUMMWVs in a recce (or should that be 'recon'?) role. Armed with an autocannon and a .50 cal respectively. |
Another recce stand (with grenade launcher) accompanies TOW carriers. |
A bog standard recce hardtop with HQ vehicles behind. |
The rather imposing ambulance version |
Of course, if you find all those HUMMWVs too bulky, how about something a little more compact? FAV (basically militarised dune buggies) with various weapon fits - also by Scotia. These were bought in the '80s, painted (MERDC!) in the early '90s, and eventually based and used in a NATO Brigade Commander game in 2009! |

I am in HUMMWV heaven!
I like the story of the Dune Buggy's, it shows a nice progression of updates.
Well worth the 12 hour wait.

Plenty more still to come! 12 hours? These poor bloody FAVs had to wait 24 years for a game!
24 years! They must be about to come into service down here then.

Is doesn't do to rush these things...

I'm glad to see these in their intended use. I'm too use to seeing Hummers in use as commuter vehicles!

They're a rare sight here in the UK, although there are quite a few stretched Hummer H2s serving as wedding limos. That said, about half an hour ago I passed an H2 on the motorway near Wakefield...

We're in big truck country here. Our 2 cars are both compacts (a Subaru and a Nissan), and there's times that I feel like I'm a food source on the road.
