USMC Infantry and Artillery

It seemed reasonable to follow up the post on my 'Desert Storm' USMC tank battalion with some photos of the other elements of the brigade.  All models in this post by GHQ and painted by me in 2006-2008.
The Marine Infantry Battalion travels in these enormous (even in 6mm) AAVP-7 amphibious APCs.  The three rifle companies are accompanied by a support company.  I'm not sure why they didn't all make in into the photo.
I also built an artillery battalion.  This is armed with M198 155mm guns towed by M1083 5-tonners

Nice

You have to feel for the USMC having Amtrac's as Armour! I'd missed the M1 Abrams myself

Beautiful, those prime movers really hit the spot.

Nice painting as well.

The AAVP-7 always looks to me like an armoured double-decker bus! A very big target.

I'm very pleased with the result - these highly detailed models respond very well to my wash and dry brush technique. The M-198 is a particular favourite of mine.

Well you know, it's the Marines. They want to make sure they have the high ground, so they just bring it with them.

That has a certain logic to it!
