A bit of a result!

I picked these up at a local auction last week.  These are the old 29-figure boxes and were something of a bargain at less per box than Airfix are charging for the current 14 figure sets.

Modern British Infantry - very useful for Little Cold Wars.
British Infantry Support Group - still a good source of mortars and Vickers MGs.
British Paras - some conversion possibilities for postwar Brits.
Japanese - I expect they'll be used eventually.
Footballers(!).  No idea yet, but inspiration will strike eventually.

All five boxes seem complete, though some of the Japs and the footballers are part painted.
My thanks again to Jerry E for the heads-up about the auction.

Thinking of the footballers - "Escape to victory" springs to mind. Another landmark in Sylvester Stallone's illustrious career. :-)

Not to mention Michael Caine's... Pele's...Bobby Moore's...Ossie Ardiles'...John Wark's...

"Ah Colby, West Ham und England."

It's surprising no-one had done a football prisoner of war escape film before (or sibce)

It may be surprising but it's a situation I can live with....

Never heard of it. Any good?

More a historical curiosity but worth 90mins or so of your time I reckon.

Cheers,

Pete.

Ok - if the offer's still open I'll borrow it next time I see you.

Hi TIM,

IIRC one of the high kicking footballers was used as the basis for a French can can dancer for some Old West Skirmish games - perhaps some form of risque concert/burlesque party for the earlier FLW types.....;-)

All the best,

DC

Thanks for that - just when I thought that the low point of this weeks suggestions was to paint up a team in the Forbodian national colours....

Not a problem- I'll pass it over when I see you next. That may well be Triples.

Cheers,

Pete.

And here's me thinking David Cook has cracked it...

Apparently he has a lot of fantasies which involve footballers and burlesque dancers. I may have to increase his medication....

Footballers: Soviet Union v FRG FC. FRG win match 3-0 and apocalypse kicks off from there.

This scenario lark is easy.

Hmm. Be careful what you wish for....

Oh my goodness I've just had a worrying thought.

Tim! You better check the box every 45 minutes to make sure the footballers are still there.

You don't want to end up like poor old Max von Sydow.

Good point. I've moved them to a metal tin. That'll stop the bu**ers tunnelling out.
