There haven't been any photos of 1/144 scale aircraft here for a while, so now seems as good a time as any to address this. While painting my three MIG-21s silver. And more silver. And yet more silver (well you get the idea...), I also turned my attention to a couple of 144 scale kits which I'd built some time (over a year) ago. Indeed you may have noticed them skulking under the MIGs in my earlier post.
The first candidate for the treatment was this P-51 Mustang built, as far as I can remember, from the old Revell kit.

I find canopies a real pain in the derriere, so for smaller (than 1/72) models I pain the clear parts in pale blue. It shouldn't work, but somehow it does!
That one looks good. Did you paint it at the same time as the MIGs? Or did you try the black undercoat?

It was done atbthe same time as the MIGs. After I'd brushed the dust off it... I have a candidatebin mind for your spray paint over black technique, but that'll be a few weeks away.
Lovely work, I always thought that a nice bright yellow went well with the blue and the sliver.

I thought they only did the later version with the bubble canopy

Definitely Revell. Their Thunderbolt has a bubble canopy though..
