Brewster F2A Buffalo

Following on form recent builds of the 1/72 Buffalo by Paul and Geordie  ( http://plasticwarriors.blogspot.com/2011/01/airfix-buffalo-final.html and http://exiledfog.blogspot.com/2011/01/running-repairs-to-raaf-brewster.html) , this seems an opportune moment to post photos of my 1/144 scale models.  Both of these are metal castings by True North and were painted for me by Wg Cdr Luddite.
Firstly we have a Buffalo in RAF service...
...and in the US Navy.  As John Bassett commented recently, any air force which uses a paint scheme based on yellow has a lot going for it!
My affection for the Buffalo is based largely on memories of building the Revell 1/72 kit in the 1970s.  I remember using it in a game in 1985 but it's final fate is unknown.
Reports from pilots are a mixed bunch - whether they though well of the Buffalo seemed to depend largely on where they were and what they were used to flying.  A useful resource I stumbled upon is at http://www.warbirdforum.com/buff.htm

I used to have a nice collection of planes but they got broken over time. How do you store yours? Do you put them on display?

Hi Bartender
When they're not doing photocalls my 1/144 scale aircraft live in small clear plastic bags in 'themed' box files. I don't have stuff on display as such.

They're ready for action at a moment's notice - assuming I can find the right box...

I spoke with the Wg Cdr earlier - he'll be doing more aircraft for me soon.

I bookmarked that link to the Warbirds Forum about six months ago.
It is a magnificent source of of information on the AVG and the air war in general in the East.
Firtshand accounts of the 'sports special' Buffalo in Singapore really appeal to sad rivet counters like me.

I had no idea it was sad enough for you!

Talk about coincidence! I was just writing an email to my brother about the 1/300 Buffalo I just bought. I was just saying how I had a soft spot for this plane as I remember making the Revell kit when I was a kid.

I was attracted to the Revell model because it had Felix the Cat as a mascot emblem on the nose! :)

Talk about blast from the past - next thing I came across this old post of yours saying the same thing! :D
