Battle Cry!

It took me a while to order this game, but having enjoyed it's derivatives - Command & Colours (Ancients and Napoleonics) it seemed a reasonable purchase. My knowledge of the ACW is to say the least somewhat scanty, but it is nevertheless a conflict which interests me. Apart from a bit of tinkering with Richard Brook's Terrible Swift Rules in the past few years, my exposure to ACW games was mostly in the 1980s with messers Robertson, Jenkins and Munro at the Perth club.
My copy was obtained (at Bob Cordery's recommendation) from Games Lore and arrived swiftly and in perfect condition.  As wells as the rules and game board, the large box contains terrain hexes, playing pieces (20mm scale plastic figures) and specially marked dice.
Within a few hours of it's arrival I had the box open and a game underway.  More on that to come soon...

It's a good game - certainly the simplest of the Command & Colours rules. We played it to death in 2004-2007 though we replaced the men with 6mm figures and played several campaigns. I still leading a team of four to victory at Champions Hill as one of my sweetest wargames victories.

Union forever!

I'm still pondering toy soldier options - I already have shedloads of 2mm toys but I'm tempted by 20mm plastics - the latter probably on the 8cm bases my ancients use.

Good Score, I love BC along with M44 for quick version form time to time. I owned the 1999 BC and sold it in favor of getting the updated version last year. There is rumor they may even do expansions. Since the edges of the board no longer have a board I could see putting boards together and playing a larger scale game similar to M44 overload expansion.

I have seen it played at cons with a table sized map and 54mm units.

Enjoy,

Aaron

I'm thinking along the lines of 20mm toys on my Hexon terrain. Maybe....

I'd go for 20mm plastic myself. :)

Apparantly Richard Borg uses 6 man units, 3 in front and 3 singles in behind. Purely for visual effect so that the last figure doesn't look so lonely. No change in rules.

I've seen painted versions of the minis on the web and it looks like they would mix well with most 20mm figures.

The figures which came in the game look OK - and don't look too out of place next to some old Esci(?) plastics I have. This looks like the way to go,

It's a great game. I really enjoy the 'husbanding your resources (orders)' and then surging forward with your plan.

You're clearly better at it than me!

I have leanings myself to do some ACW stuff in 20mm, so this looks o be a good buy.
