I mentioned in my first post on this subject, I have been experimenting with paint schemes using some old 1/32 scale Napoleonic figures I found in the attic. So far I have painted six of them, with another six to go. These chaps will form the Palace Guard for my fictional Balkan/Russian-style country - Forbodia.
The purple tunic was adopted during the reign of King Boris I (known to history as 'Boris Badonov') in the mid 18th Century as he claimed descent from the Eastern Emperors of Rome.
The man in the top right of the photo above may appear to be a 'dying' figure, but this is not the case. The Palace Guard are trained to fight well and if necessary to die bravely. The man in question is simply practising this latter skill.
Below - a close-up of one of the Guards. The paint job is pretty basic but (to my eyes at least) conveys the right effect.
Coming soon - the artillery park.
