Fresh off the production line are these Parthian Horse Archers. These are plastic figures by Hat and the 15 chaps represent the bulk of the box contents (there are also 3 foot figures but I've not yet bothered with them). I have treated them to my usual basic paint job with a tinted varnish finish. They look rather better in the photos than in the 'flesh'. Light cavalry archers are useful to have as they feature in many different armies. I expect these fine fellows to be offered quite a bit of employment over the coming years.

Very nice indeed - I like the staggering on the bases. I have always liked the Parthians ever since I saw a really evocative picture of one in a school history book written by the fantastically named Plantagenet Somerset Fry. Have you got any of the Cataphracts?

'Staggering' is a good description of my approach to getting toys finished!
I do indeed have a box of Hat Cataphracts in stock - and another of the Zvezda cataphracts. And some old metal ones.... You get the idea.
Basic paint with tinted varnish over plastic figures.....sound a lot like mine!
The Hat figures are good value, - very little wasted in each packet.

Ronseal satin medium oak to be precise! Stand far enough back and they look pretty good.
Ronseal?...good man..none of that recanned ronseal..now what´s it called again??.army something or other.

It does seem to have been the year (or at least the last few months) of the pointy stick! More wheels and tracks coming soon, so don't panic.
