As part of the preparation for a game Martin and I are planning at next year's Conference of Wargamers I need a couple of MIG-21s. As I recall owning a rather battered example of the Airfix version many years ago, I began looking around at 1/72 scale kits. However, they all seemed a bit pricey - even on Ebay. Widening the search a bit, I discovered a Tamiya kit in 1/100 scale - one of a small range of kits in this scale which have been around since the '70s, but I hadn't come across them before. The fact that they are readily available for less than £3.00 each made the decision for me and as I needed two, I obviously ordered three of them!
The kits come in a rather nice box - overlooked by some manufacturers, but I think it makes a difference. |
The parts all look very crisp. And thankfully there aren't too many of them! Three sets of markings are included - Soviet, Polish and North Vietnamese. |

I am looking forward to seeing how these are going to look when they are finished.
The MiG21 was always my favourite Soviet jet fighter ... lean and mean!
All the best,

One of my favourites too. It was very current when I became interested in such things. Very no-frills!
A rather nice looking kit, and in a good scale for gaming.
Interesting to see what they turn out like.
Great buy.
