On Sunday 13th I made the trek to the IPMS Model World show at Telford. This is a show I'd been meaning to get to for some years, and the journey was trouble free and took less time (about 90 minutes) than I'd expected.
The show filled three hangar-sized halls. The first was occupied largely by the competition tables and a 1:1 scale Spitfire, the other two had trade stands all round the walls and IPMS branch displays in the centre. I managed to make a complete initial circut of both trade halls without any money changing hands - no mean feat considering the vast array of kits and books on display! There was also a 'Kitswap' - effectively a Bring & Buy - in the first hall which I was of course unable to resist!

The initial swag. I've enjoyed the larger (than 1/144 scale) aircraft kits I've built this year and who could resist a Hunter for £2? The Tamiya kits (£11 for the pair) will be useful for my Funny Little Wars forces. |

The 'Kitswap' also yielded a couple of unboxed 1/72 aircraft kits - MIG-17 and Jaguar - and this curiosity. I knew that ROCO made a couple of helicopter kits but I'd never seen this Phantom in the very unusual scale (for an aircraft kit) of 1/87. For £2 it seemed an attractive purchase. |

The only stuff I bought from a trader was this batch of 'PM' 1/72 kits. These are apparently made in Turkey and look to be quite high quality kits, but are very cheap! The five kits in the photo retail for a total of less than £15.00 (before haggling...) No idea what they'll be used for but no doubt I'll think of something. |

PM model as a Turkish brand. Kits are low pieces and poor details. But good choise for the find creative ideas and training .

That Field Kitchen will make a truly enviable addition to your 54mm force - I haven't even got one in 15mm (yet...): a scale in which we can usually load up with gear ...

I am pretty sure those kits from Turkey are Kitech jobs as I recognise the artwork...Good luck on those Tim.

I'm shocked to hear you lack a field kitchen Phil. Clearly some urgent scratchbuilding is required? Needless to say I have at least one in 6mm and several in 20mm, including the celebrated armoured version.....

I'm not sure it needs to be Gepanzert, or indeed particularly schwere for the Edwardian era!

Not a bad haul eh? The PM kit components certainly look pretty good - I'll throw one together soon and then we'll know the truth.

Don't worry about it Phil. Feelings of field kitchen inadequacy are quite normal in a man of your age. Anyway, console yourself with the thought that when you do make one it'll be much better than any of mine!

Sorry - just spotted your comment - the spam filter had grabbed it! The kits seem OK in terms of quality - but then I'm not a display modeler. I have begun work on the Yak-15 and will post details soon.
