A little something for the weekend now.
In amongst JR's toys was a small sealed packet intriguingly labelled 'Roman Slave Market'. This had evidently been bought sometime in the early 1970s(?) from Clyde Models in Glasgow and may have been made be Rose Miniatures. I was unable to resist the 'challenge' of painting this lot quite early on. Never before has so much flesh coloured paint been used on so few figures!

Okay, I agree much flesh colors to paint, but they're very nice models. And you did a great job on painting them Tim!

Nice to know you've had an eyeful!
Yes Rose Miniatures. They were in the catalogue I had in college, in 54mm & 30mm. Always wanted one, but its the sort of thing a young lad feels inhibited about. Unless he has gladiators to go with them... Can't remember why I wanted them now...
Nicely painted. Good inspiration for the fighting troops.

And the Rose prices were beyond most modest defence budgets. Sorry to hear you can't remember why you wanted a set - keep looking at the photo - maybe it'll come back to you!
Tim
I'm wondering if the ancients behaving badly are the figures who were painted or the painters!

You naughty man! Still, I must be doing something right if I've got one up on you.
Hmmm...they look vaguely familiar...lets see...
Oh, I remember now. I managed to get a set bar one of the owners. That's right, nice figures, compatible with my Garrison gladiators, interesting, got a mould made...... should be about 'set' by now, been a bit busy recently....
I'll try and get the range out in a day or so, will be 80p per figure. Keep looking on:

I should point out these are the 30mm ones, I don't have rights to the 54mm ranges, just the 30mm and below 'wargames' ranges.

These are the 30mm figures and very crisp castings the are. Glad to hear that you are expanding your range - as has been mentioned before, my first 25s were Garrison figures.

Good point - I'll put extra insulation in their box!
I never get invited to the best parties ;)

Perhaps you breached the dress code?
I painted these up myself a couple of years back. Lovely old school sculpts. Almost fit in with my Foundry gladiators. BOF Studios have just released some very nice Roma civilian types that fit well, nicely detailed and old school proportions.
