Roman Auxiliary Infantry - part 2

These chaps are now finished, and given that they were my first real crack at painting plastic ancients, I'm quite happy with the results.
A (very tall) barbarian's-eye view of my new Romans.
Just to prove I paint them all round...

They look pretty good to me.

What about under the bases? Do you paint there? :)

Thanks - plenty more still to paint!

Come off it! I reckon it's a good result to have painted the figures! The undersides of the bases are finished with a sheet of magnetic strip so they'll maintain formation in the box.

We never use magnetic strips nowadays to maintain formations, just a plain old marker.

The troops look good, but needs a AFV or two to spice things up.

Is the second shot closer to the true colour or did you use a dark wash?

Regards Paul

The shots are without and with flash. I did use a dark wash - actually a wood stain varnish. I'll put your AFV idea to the Emperor but it may have to wait a couple of millennia....

Nice work Tim, clearly you're a painting machine if the occasion calls for it

Hurry up and wait eh? Some things never change...

A painting machine? Yeah - a really inefficient one!

Nice work, are you planning a punic excursion?

More a case of just painting random figures!
