Airfix at Aldi!

RAF fighters spotted in German shop!
I had reason to pop into a nearby Aldi store this morning and was surprised to see a small range of Airfix kits.  These are all packaged as starter sets and six different kits are available:  Hurricane Mk.1, Curtiss Tomahawk, Gnat, Spitfire, Mustang and Cromwell tank.  All are priced at £4.99 each.  I think I was quite restrained in only buying the two kits pictured.....but I might go back!

And I needed them! Not, you're right. I didn't.

Great restraint. Lovin' the Mustang too. They sell for more than double (anything between $26 and $40) in hobby shops here in NZ. I have not seen the Mustang though. The Spitfire and FW 190 is the mainstay of what is imported. Sometimes great bargains are to be had in supermarkets as they buy in bulk and discount in bulk too (more so if a line doesn't move)

Dear Herman

I don't know if it's true or not but I heard that Orks make terrible pilots and are hopeless at model making, hence the lack of incentive for importers. :-)

Hilarious....The wife decided that we are doing our Christmas food shop tonight, and I said 'OK, so long as it's not ALDI, I'm not going into Aldi this week it will be mental!' Du-Oh!

How was I to resist?

It would be rude not to!

On of the other supermarkets had some of these kits a couple of years back - it's always worth a look from time to time.

I may have to volunteer to help with the resupply of groceries between Xmas and New Year

The wife may smell a rat if I offer to go alone ;)
