F-100D Super Sabre

The harsh glare of the camera flash has done nothing to improve the appearance of my recently painted F-100D Super Sabre.  It is finished in French markings - they received (appropriately) 100 of them from 1956.  Some were used in the Algerian war, flying from bases France.  The French F-100s were retired from the late 1960s and replaced in the ground attack role by Jaguars.
My model was spray painted in silver as part of a batch of 'metal finish' aircraft.  It is an Heroics & Ros 1/300 scale casting with roundels by Dom's Decals.  The tail stripes were painted on (apparently in the dark with a 6 inch roller).

Whatever the finish the hun is a fine looking bird. Well done Tim.

The harshest light seems to come from your own self-criticism. I thought it looked quite nice. Plus you've taken a naked close up shot (few of us look at our best in those circa). Remember the 2 feet rule.

Cheers

It looks great. I thought it was the sun shining off it.

The F-100 definitely dates from the era of 'elegant' jets.

You are (as always) most kind. The other side of the Atlantic is probably the right distance...
