A Tempestuous affair - part 1.5

I recently mentioned that I had acquired and begun work on an  Academy Tempest.  But the story didn't start there.  On no.  First I had a go at this old Novo (ex-Frog) kit which rather unsurprisingly turned out to be a bit of a clunker.  Still, I've started so I may as well keep going.  If nothing else, it'll be interesting to compare and contrast the completed models.

  1. Well at least the artwork is pleasing.

That it is. A box best left unopened?

  3. All credit to you for keeping on going with this big plane project Tim

I have a very STOP, start thing with 1/72 planes (and 1/72 AFV/soldiers if truth be told)

I can see a certain attraction in simple painted Little Wars 54mm, alternatively tiny 1/3000 (ships) and 1/200, 1/300 (tanks)things seem to be OK for me too

Are you getting ready for this year's CoWs Tim, I am tempted but am struggling in tight times to justify the expense (even though it is extremely good value for its content) and fight with time slot away from the family

Psst: Anymore Fletcher Pratt's lined up?

  4. Blimey! FROG - now that takes me back! The only one I can remember making for certain is their Vultee Vengeance... I remember Frog being the kit you went for if your pocket money wouldn't stretch to a Revell or an Airfix! :)

The Tempest is for a specific game which I'll be running at Triples and COW this year. I keep thinking I should cut down my number of projects, but it's easier said than done!
Get to COW as soon as you can. I put it off for a few years and still regret the 'missing years'.....
The cost is as you say, pretty reasonable.

I don't remember Frog being particularly cheap - though when the kits reappeared under the Novo label they were almost being given away! Frog seem only to have been available in certain areas - I only ever seemed to get them while on holiday.
