This car (well, OK - van) is another useful die-cast from Hot Wheels. Treated to my usual spray and drybrush approach it fits in nicely with my existing toys. The figures are an assortment of metal castings - mostly (I think) from Battlefront. The portly bald general is a lovely figure, but evidently not regarded as entirely politically reliable - hence the presence of the commissar!
The portly bald general looks the spitting image of Bob Hoskins in Enemy at the Gates.
ReplyDeleteThis car...oups, van, looks very nice!
ReplyDeleteGreat work!

ReplyDeleteMy guy has a much better accent!

ReplyDeleteA quick and easy result. Aren't dodgy die-casts great?
The general does look like Bob Hoskins in Enemy at the Gates!
ReplyDeleteI'll take your word on the accent comrade Timski!
The commissar look suitably dour!
Tim
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The spray and brush worked very nicely. Even the Hotwheels clunky mag wheels turn out well - looking like wire spoked jobbies.

ReplyDeleteThe NKVD are on their way to you...
Peter Douglas
ReplyDeleteActually this one does have spoked 'wire' effect wheels. The mag wheels need a lot more 'mud'.
As long as you are not stealing from children it's OK!
ReplyDeleteHa...been married 3 time hell and the NKVD hold no fear for me! lol
ReplyDeleteOkay this has to be the best hot wheels out there.
ReplyDeleteI like the fact that when basing them you have placed them really separate.
Close cooperation was never really a strong point of the USSR.
Great stand.

ReplyDeleteNow why didn't I think of that....

ReplyDeleteTruly you are a man of steel!

ReplyDeleteI meant to post this about a year ago (with the other Sov cars) but somehow it slipped thought the net.
Love the Fat Controller ... er, Divisional Commander :O)
ReplyDeleteRegards, Chris
Cheers for this idea Tim! I've wanted a cheap way to do a WW2 Soviet ZiS 5 truck, inspired by you I looked for a diecast model and found a 1/72 Lledo 1930s Ford delivery van which will do nicely. :)
ReplyDeleteChris Kemp
ReplyDeleteArmy commander if you please! But well done on guessing what the NKVD call him...
Stephen Beat
ReplyDeleteCheap die-cast toys hold down many positions in my units, and of a few 'proper' Wargamers get annoyed by them, so much the better!
