News is just in that Forbodia has been hit by the recent cold snap which has made travelling conditions as treacherous as a Vulgarian diplomat. At least the snow should stop the pointy-heads invading for a few days... The photo above shows one Forbodian citizen immobilised by the weather. (Photo posed on the roof just outside my wargames room window.)
Back in Yorkshire the snow isn't too bad and after some very interesting conditions on Saturday evening the major roads are pretty clear. Except for the dense fog...
While I have no doubt that I could have extracted my car (above) this morning, knowing that I had to travel on some minor roads in East Yorkshire I sensibly opted for plan B (below).

ReplyDeleteGood luck with the winter driving. However, know that all across Canada a symphony of the world's smallest violins is playing for the UK.

You can tell that the (model) chauffer is from Yorkshire - he is in his shirtsleeves in the snow!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the heartfelt (and unsought) sympathy pal!

ReplyDeleteIf it's any consolation, when I first moved to Regina I was amazed to hear people complain about 3 days of intermittent drizzle as "all that rain".
Take care on the roads. I'm guessing that your SUV has all wheel or 4 wheel drive, but the driving is only as safe as the other guys on the road.

Have yet to see any of the white stuff this year,in fact we bounce
ReplyDeletefrom one week in the 50s to the next in the 70s! With the odd 30
something every now and again...like we say here if you don't like the weather in Texas wait an hour...)

ReplyDeleteHe's clearly not one of those softies from NE Lincolnshire...

ReplyDeleteI have indeed seen some startling stupidity on the roads today. I certainly can't see through fog but while plodding along at 60mph I was regularly tailgated and passed by people gifted with x-ray vision. Lucky them!

ReplyDeleteThe same is said about the weather here - above the low-lying fog it was a really sunny day.

ReplyDeleteMy figuring is that it is much better to have them in front of you then behind you.

ReplyDeleteGenerally yes - apart from the idiots with no lights on!
It must be horrid living in a Winter Wonderland.
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes for those in Snow-bordia.
(Said Paul basking in 29C of sunshine, and no rain for 6 days)

ReplyDeleteSmugness is a deeply unattractive trait.
Insert evil laugh here.
ReplyDeleteThe Vulgarian Army has also retired to winter quarters and is taking recruits for its engineer and signals branches.
ReplyDelete"Good luck with the winter driving."
I know our winters are trifling compared to Canada, but it is the irregularity of the snow events which make them such a pita.
I had the joy of driving back to Sheffield from London on Saturday night, of which the last 120 miles were in a blizzard. Not something I'm in a hurry to repeat.

ReplyDeleteI only did a 30-mile round trip on Saturday evening and that was bad enough!
