Currently on the slipway is this pair of Airfix 'Prinz Eugen' kits. I have lightly knocked about one of them to vaguely represent the pre-war 'Hipper'. By the time this post is published they should be finished (sorry, commissioned), so more photos soon.
Look forward to seeing the completed products.

ReplyDeleteI'd invite you to the launching, but you get so little in a 1200 scale champagne bottle....
More speedy progress, how long does one of these take to complete?
ReplyDeleteNice comment on the commissioning.

ReplyDeleteAbout an hour (spread over a couple of evenings) and then after the spray paint has dried, about 30 minutes of brush painting. Works of art they ain't!
A nasty pair of commerce raiders for sure
ReplyDeleteI trust you'll get The Mighty Hood after them
Hi Tim,
ReplyDeleteRe the painting - but they are very effective! Nice touch re the Hipper. IIRC I did something similar when I used the funnels for some scratch builds in the SE Asia campaign. A simple touch but it makes a lot of difference.
Can't wait to see more!
All the best,

ReplyDeleteAh yes, the Hood. I'd better build one!

ReplyDeleteI'm aiming for representations rather than trying to get details correct. Looking at the pre-war Hipper, the most noticeable difference is the absent funnel cap. Job done!
