The box of crap which yielded the HUMWVs mentioned yesterday also contained this pair of trucks. Or as we say here in Blighty, 'lorries.' The design seems to me to be based on the US M939 series but I'd welcome more expert opinions (yes Don I mean you...).
They have been treated to the same rough paintwork as the Hummers, with the chassis and nasty black wheels left in their virgin state.
And yes - you can see the ground through the cab! Floors are for wimps.
Cheap? Yes. Nasty? Oh indeed.
But as someone wise once said, (all together now) "you can never have too many lorries."
LOL, Yes Tim, you got it right, that was the prime mover for the 198 howitzer...)

ReplyDeleteThe Oracle speaks! I assume the real ones have cab floors?
Thanks Don.
Yes and a full front bumper....)
ReplyDeleteDon M
ReplyDeleteEven when you've driven them?
Tim,
ReplyDeleteWe used to have an expression back in the early 70's - "Good enough for wargaming." Lately I have adopted it as my mantra.

Never damaged a truck.....a store front with the tube on an 8 inch self propelled
ReplyDeletea different (and long) story.....)
"you can never have to many lorries"! Is that good enough for you Tim?
ReplyDeleteGreat work again.
Greetings

ReplyDeleteIs this part of your 'everything's bigger in Texas' myth? Over here the armed robbers just use shotguns...
Peter
ReplyDeleteWell done sir!
Truckin' good Tim.
ReplyDeleteLets hear more from Don!!!!

ReplyDeleteYou know what these Americans are - so quiet and modest. Hopefully between us we'll be able to goad Don into telling all.....
LOL , I was driving a M110 Howitzer in convoy through a very small town in Korea
ReplyDeletewhen a Korean taxi zipped in between us and order not to hit him I had to do a bit of a hard turn. There was plenty of room for the track however the gun tube is
many feet out in front of the vehicle. So the muzzle brake took out the window,
door and one of the supporting columns on the front of this small store. The Korean
police got there remarkably fast, and as it is Korean law not to interfere military convoys (let alone drive recklessly) the driver was ticketed.
Thats a lot tamer than I thought it would be Don. Nice surprise for the store owner I bet!
ReplyDeleteI must confess at this time, that I managed to write off a RL Bedford at a railway crossing, and therefore as a pot, I cannot call the kettle black.
Good times...
Don M
ReplyDeleteI think taxi drivers are much the same the world over.

ReplyDeleteCome on then, we need the full story.
