Waterloo 200 game - part 1

Yesterday saw the largest yet Funny Little Wars game with around 2,000 54mm figures and nine players gathered in central London to refight Waterloo and Wavre.  The following photos - and there are plenty more to come - aim to give readers a flavour of the event.  Above - La Haye Sainte

Hougoumont.  The flags represent troops which have yet to become visible.  Or decoys...

The setup process of these big games has a tendency to resemble a badly managed jumble sale

  1. What an amazing game, and hats off to the organiser too! Fancy having a go at Blenheim in the future? Interesting to see the 28mm? La Haye Sainte in use. It looks fine. I was at Colours on Saturday and inspected the 4Ground MDF 28mm version which to my eye looked too big for 54mm figures (and at over £200 for pieces of MDF seemed rather expensive). I look forward to the next post.

  2. A superb setting and weather for it all. I just gotta have a lawn game of my own this summer!

Much as I'd like to pour scorn on your Blenheim suggestion, I can already feel the weight of inevitability...
My LHS - and indeed Belle Alliance - is the Hovels version. £70 on their website but mine was a gift from a good friend. I managed to drop one of the buildings while packing away so yesterday it was out with the superglue... I have seen an mdf version - it didn't do it for me, especially given the price!

Given that it was pi**ing rain overnight we were very lucky with the weather.

All of the players want to do this sort of thing again so I'm sure you'll get your chance for glory.

  7. Quite charming. You are quite brave to stage such a large game outdoors and hope for the best from English weather.
I see autumn leaves on the ground - did they augment the defender's concealment and ambush prospects? :)
