My 54mm Russians needed some spiritual (mis)guidance so I'd been on the lookout for a suitable Rasputin figure for some time. This BMC/Americana chap emerged blinking from his mould destined to be an Irish Catholic priest before fate intervened and his career took a slightly different route. My modifications were mostly confined to the paintwork - bushy eyebrows and even madder eyes then usual.
Like the man said - "Oh those Russians..."

One of the more odd things I've done is attend a "club nite" on a cruise ship in Russia where the evening ended with the Russian guides & couriers all dancing & singing along to the Boney M classic....
ReplyDeleteWell it doesn't matter how much you all beg me. . . I'm not to tell the tale about my night with the two Russian ballerinas the donkey and the egg whisk. :-)
ReplyDeleteHa! I laugh at your Rat Poison! I laugh at your bullets! I laugh at your attempt to drown me. But please, no more Boney M! That will be the death of me!
ReplyDeleteVillage People engineers and now Rasputin - are we having an insight into the Gow collection of 45 rpm singles? What next-Rene and Renata? :)
ReplyDeleteIt is a little known fact that the current Russian leader Mr Putin’s forebears decided to drop the “Ras” from their name in order to distance themselves from the black sheep of the family. Still blood is thicker than water and this may lend some credence to the reports of Mr Putins alleged claims to be Russia’s greatest love machine.

Trust me it’s worth a look. ☺
