The recent 'big push' on the ground crew front included painting (at last!) this Airfix tractor and bomb trolleys. This came as part of the (hugely expensive) Stirling bomber kit - which is why hardly any of us have one! I was given most of the parts for this nearly ten years ago by a chap from whom, as a result of an eBay transaction, I was buying some parts for an old Volvo*. He had looked at my transaction history and gave me (free and gratis) a box of kits and parts!
I had enough parts to build the tractor (minus rear wheel arches and othe non-essentials) and two loaded bomb trolleys. Somewhere I have a third, albeit lacking bombs. Given its shaky start in life I think it doesn't look too bad.

RAF? Late arriving? Surely not?
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, the ground crews only ever really got grumpy with the pilots if they brought their bombs back :O)

ReplyDeleteYou mean your 'sale or return' scheme for bombs never caught on?
You have just given me the excuse to go get a Stirling (well it's on the birthday wish list)
ReplyDeleteAny more ship-to-ship FP action planned any time soon?
ReplyDeleteIf you buy the new Airfix bomber re-supply set it's cheaper, and you get a tractor and bomb trailer, Standard Till, choice of MWD or MWC, towed bowser, maintenance tower and other goodies as well. But no bomber.

ReplyDeleteThere is (see below) a new set which includes the bomb trolleys but without a big daft bomber.
Hopefully I'll do another F-P game in the next few weeks.

ReplyDeleteQuite right. I already have one on order!
