The above photos show the terrain setup.  This game was played the day after the naval battle reported previously.  PW and I set up the terrain and sorted out the toys.  I had brought along my Naval Brigade, gunboats and daft train.
One of my two gunboats providing (very innefectual) fire support
The game provided a debut outing for the Thunderbox!
Danish railways turned out to be in a poor state!
Artillery from my (Anglophobian) Naval Brigade
My naval infantry
PW's naval infantry.  Was this the largest naval landing force yet seen in a FLW game?

  1. Intriguing! By the way, I don't know of a Danish Defence in Chess, but there is a Danish Gambit!

I suspect that the chess version is a bit more serious....

There's nothing quite like using a Thunderbox in the open air!

  8. 'Mmmm not so serious. The 'full' Danisg Gambit requires White to give up 2 pawns to get his bishops out really quickly. I had a much lower rated player try it against me on Gameknot several weeks ago - and he had me on the ropes for a while...

The only time I ever played it myself was at a club night after a
happy hour' at work. Not a success...
