One of my more unusual French tanks is this FCM-36. It is an old resin kit of unknown origin which I built and painted about 20 years ago. It was also something of a rarity in real life, with only around 100 built 1938-39. Although it didn't bring anything technically different to the party the FCM must have looked a lot more modern and racy than the R-35 and H-39. Not really racy though at 24kph flat out!
looks rather like a stealth tank with those angled sides. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty good for 20yrs mate!
ReplyDeleteVery nice colour scheme Tim. Not familiar with this tank at all....The gun doesn't look that lethal though.

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it never showed on radar so I expect you're right!

ReplyDeleteStill a few miles left in it yet!

ReplyDeleteThe gun is the mighty 37mm. Capable of penetrating wet paper bags at point blank range!
Crazy to think that at the start of WW2 37mm was considered an adequate AT gun! :)
ReplyDelete>>Crazy to think that at the start of WW2 37mm was considered an adequate AT gun! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's because it was an adequate AT gun given the general thinness of tank armor at that time :-)
No matter what anybody says
ReplyDeleteI still want one!
Red Cardinal
ReplyDeleteQuite so, but the 37mm guns in French light tanks weren't really intended for AT work - that being the job of the mighty Hotchkiss 25mm AT guns!
Geordie
ReplyDeleteQuite right too!
Ah, the Hotchkiss 25mm ATG. That'll sort the Boche out! (And if that doesn't work, there's still the Boyes ATR :-)
