Having set up four sets of terrain for the 'Hook's Farm' scenario, the on/off drizzle of the morning turned into quite intense rain. Toys and buildings were rescued and the company reassembled in the Dining Hall. As will be evident from the photos, conditions indoors were highly satisfactory.
For this first game, PW had asked me to assist with umpiring and it was the shirking of this duty which enabled me to take so many photos! So many in fact, that I can run to separate posts for each of the four 'Hook's Farm' games. The aim on this scenario was to capture and hold the central building(s) while sustaining fewer casualties than the enemy.
The hastily re-located games being set up on four tables. |
The armies deploy |
Army Dark Green is clearly poised for a sweep round the flank |
The US forces - all painted by their young owner!
The Russian cavalry advance |
The Russian artillery looked to be something of a management problem - while the frantic
CO waves his sabre one of the horses and several of the gunners seem to be having a rest...
Russian infantry stomp unimaginatively forward
And the prize for wearing the same hat as his troops goes to....
A regiment of cossacks gallops towards the enemy line
Bitter fighting took place around the central buildings
The Americans cling to a shrinking perimeter
The game ended with the Russian steamroller in firm possession of the buildings.
URRAH!

ReplyDeleteI can't say for sure, but I think some Gatling gunners went down to a cavalry charge.
