These fine chaps are the latest addition to my 25mm forces. They are Garrison castings of Persian 'Immortals', and certainly seem to be living up to their billing so far. My first ever ancient period army included no fewer than forty of these chaps (the maximum under the WRG army lists for 5th Edition...). I wonder where they are now.Given that I was at least the third owner of the fab forty, and that I acquired them in the late 1970s, it is safe to conclude that the moulds have been around for a very long time! The figures above are new castings, having arrived fresh from the moulds earlier this year. Their vintage is hinted at by the thick 'telegraph pole' spears but for me that just adds to their considerable charm. The same figure is available without the cast-on spear - but that just sounds like more work.
More Persians coming soon...
Nice minis!
ReplyDeletePhil.
Yeah, typical Guardsmen resting on their shields looking pretty while peasants and foreigners do the heavy lifting.
ReplyDeleteMay both these Zorastians and you enjoy this winter solstice and all associated holidays.

ReplyDeleteThanks - and I'd had them for less than a year before painting them - impressive!

ReplyDeleteJust a single drop of blood could ruin a nice expensive yellow uniform - that's why Persian armies consist mostly of scruffy levies.
