John turned up for last week's Fletcher Pratt game bearing a gift for me. He had spotted on a market stall this slightly down at heel Triang Minic model of the Japanese super-battleship Yamato. Aside from some paint chipping the model has a slightly bent main gun barrel and is missing the two catapults normally found at the blunt end. But for £0.50 who cares? (For readers in the colonies £0.50 equates to 0.80 USD or 0.97 NZD).
John concealed his disappointment well when I told him he couldn't use it in the game....
For comparison purposes the photo below shows the new arrival next to my near-mint example.
I need hardly add that if you ever see these models at such giveaway prices you should snap them up!
More Yamato-related nonsense soon, in what appears to be 'Ship Month' on my blog!
Can it handle interstellar travel?
ReplyDeleteWas Musashi similar enough that you can use the newcomer as her?

ReplyDeleteGreat find. Nothing that a quick fix couldn't fix.

ReplyDeleteProbably. The only difficulty is getting enough dilithium crystals...

ReplyDeleteIf I only had the two that would be an obvious solution. Stay tuned.
