Silnyi class destroyers

To accompany my Soviet cruisers I clearly needed some destroyers.  A study of the 1922-1946 volume of Conway as usual provided some inspiration and a pair of Airfix Tribal class DDs were soon being hacked around.  The results, in the shape of Silnyi and Slanvyi can be seen below.  The turrets were sourced from a Revell Scharnhorst and the torpedo mounts cut from plastic sheet.  I really must get them into a game sometime.

    So the Yorkshire shipyards continue with their plan for global domination eh? Very nice and an ingenious conversion.

    There's nothing on the slipways at the moment, though there are still a few ships from the latest batch which haven't been photographed as yet. I've not looked seriously at Russian battleships as yet, but rule nothing out...

    Very impressive looking ships ... and just right for escorting those hard-pressed convoys into Murmansk or chasing Romanian destroyers in the Black Sea.

    1/1200 works on a floor but you can fit small actions on a biggish table.
