The game opened well, with a long range shot from one of my Panthers (I think of them as companies) hitting this Sherman. |
Sadly there were many more Shermans. Many, many more... They soon did away with my garrison in the village. |
My Panthers looked rather menacing atop the ridgeline - but were magnets for Canadian AT shells. |
A price was extracted however. |
On the left, my Panzer IV dealt with a stray Sherman. |
Another photo of the smouldering Sherman. This was the high point of the game for me. |
A lucky long range PIAT shot did away with the Panzer, and I was hampered by cards which mostly activated units in the (empty) centre sector. It made a change from the dice being against me... |
The end is nigh. The Germans' last chance perishes. What a rotten game! |
You cannot win them all Tim. Nice report however.
ReplyDeleteGood to see the Canuck's give 'er eh?
That looked very good! Those little pieces that indicated 'hits' were well done. I can't believe a PIAT managed to hit anything! :) Ho ho...

ReplyDeleteIt certainly felt like a Canadian walkover. Clearly Panzer Meyer had the day off. Or an off day.

ReplyDeleteThe blast markers were by Litko (http://www.litko.net/categories/Tokens-%26-Markers/Blast-Burn-Smoke/) and were provided (at great expense) by John. It looks as if the man-portable AT weapon may have a future...
Nice idea, I have often thought about using Minis for M44 and Battlecry. I was at a CON and saw battlecry done using 54mm minis on a huge table with terrain.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteThat must have been something to see! Do you have any photos?
Oh Dear, Carpiquet-bagged by Canadians.
ReplyDeleteI think there are some pictures of some 54mm Battlecry games in the photo albums on the Littlewars yahoo group. I'll see if I can find them.

ReplyDeleteJust lucky cards Ross...

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link - most impressive!
As these are company-ish sized elements (based on the historical OBs, roughly a brigade on each side) then I suspect the 'PIAT' was actually a section of 6pdrs. Still a lucky shot to finish the Panzer IV company off at long range (one dice needing a 'tank' symbol).
ReplyDeleteStill working on some tweaks to make Mem 44 as flavoursome as CnC Napoleonics and Ancients but without bolting skirmish detail onto a grand tactical game which the Mem 44 supplements tend to do.
