Typhoon Twins

While progress continues (slowly…) with the Airfix Typhoon, here are some of it’s smaller chums.  Luckily there are two of them – on the grounds that two 1/144 scale models equals one 1/72 model!

These are old Revell plastic kits which were built in great haste for a game a few years ago.  Actually the standard of finish is quite embarrassingly poor.  In my defence I will say that they were built and painted as part of a batch of a dozen or so aircraft – mostly Spitfires and Tempests – which were needed for a Megablitz game based on Operation Market Garden.  All of it.

  2. Nice stuff Tim.

I'm glad to see that black painted cockpits don't look so bad as that's how mine are going to be for the group build.

    Cheers,

So now we just wait for some clever sod to show up with seventeen Typhoons in 1/1200 scale?

The cockpit canopies are actually dark blue with black framing added using a marker pen. Did I mention it was a rush job?

Looking good for a rush job. The photo above the cloth is very effective.

At least you didn't go for all of D-Day!

Weren't the Typhoon Twins an early 80s synth-pop band?

    Cheers

..."Weren't the Typhoon Twins an early 80s synth-pop band?" They certainly should have been!

You are most kind. They certainly put the wind up II SS Panzerkorps in the game!

  9. Typhoon terrific! A good pair Tim, I would not be concerned with the paint job, its the rockets that matter.

  15. 1/72 can be big and bulky but somehow it is a scale that appeals so

I hope you have plenty of space to store them (loft/attic/garage)

The forthcoming Tiffie wil be number six in my 1/72 aircraft 'collection', so not too much pressure on space as yet!
