Tupolev SB-2 - part 3 - old vs new

In the spirit of Soviet Socialist self-criticism, I finally got round to comparing my new SB-2s with my earlier sctatch-bodged effort and was pleased to see that the latter actually stands up pretty well.
My earlier effort is on the left - wings all wrong and generally too chunky but green paint and big red stars can disguise much!
There are pics of my other Russian aircraft on an earlier post at http://megablitzandmore.blogspot.com/2010/11/red-sky-at-night.html

It's not bad is it? Still, the newer models are a lot nicer.

Quite - when the wings are ablaze nobody cares what shape they are!

Thanks - all the better to bomb the Hitlerite hordes back to the viper's lair.

  9. I think it is a decent effort myself. What were the donor kits?

Thanks guys. My original SB-2 started off life as a Nakajima Ki-49 'Helen'. My usual modelling techniques were employed - a couple of photos, one sharp knife, one blunt knife, one tube of filler, lots of swearing.
