1/1200 Fleet Review - Imperial Japanese navy

I have now begun the job of sorting through and tidying up the vast fleet of ships originally built by John Hawes (see my earlier post http://megablitzandmore.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/bewildering-big-balsa-battleship.html).  I began with the Japanese as one of the carriers needed quite a bit of paint.  In the end the paintwork on several ships needed touching up and I took the opportunity to add the red and white striped band at the stern (the blunt end…) which seems to have been a feature of Japanese carriers.
The fleet assembled for review.
Including the few vessels I already had this makes for a total IJN fleet of 43 ships!
Kagero class destroyers
Kamakaze class destroyers
Matsu class destroyers
Kuma class light cruisers
Mogami class heavy cruisers
Yamato class battleships
Battlecruisers, including Kongo
Carriers.  Quite a lot of them!

All boxed and labelled!  Ready for a game.

  1. Hi Tim,

I don't know what the Japanese word for 'Phew!' is but if I did....;-)

Cracking set up and I can almost visualise the golf tees all over them!

    All the best,

    DC

According to Google Translate, it's "yareyare". I think these chaps are well capable of flinging a few shells back at the enemy!

  3. Tim, some of those ship (or maybe all) look scratch built. Are they?

  5. Thats an impressive Fleet you gained there Tim.

Enough Carriers to walk from Japan to the Coral Sea without touching the ground!
